Favorite Christmas song on the radio

Just a quick hit this morning as you continue the wrapping, get ready for the Christmas Eve party or gathering, and church this evening.

What is the Christmas song you always turn up when you here it on the radio? I have several, but right now it has to be “Merry Christmas, Darling” by the Carpenters. Karen Carpenter was a singular talent, and no one has been able to match that recording, although Amy Grant has given it a good run.

What’s your favorite, “always crank it and sing along Christmas song?”

Christmas Wish List: HDTV choices

We don’t have to just dream about a White Christmas around here, but we are dreaming about purchasing the best HDTV for our living rooms.

A new flat-screen was the most desired gadget purchase for P&T readers when we asked that question a few weeks ago, and I’ve got a few to take a look at.

First, let’s shoot for the moon with what CNET’s editors consider is the best plasma TV out there bar none: the Pioneer PRO111 / PRO-111FD / PRO-111FD Elite KURO 50 HD 1080P Plasma TV.

This 50-inch monster simply has the deepest black levels that CNET has ever seen, vivid and correct color, and plenty of connections for all of your HD sources (don’t bother plugging in a VCR to this bad boy). The picture quality is unmatched in large-screen HDTV’s.

Ok, how much you ask…are you sitting down? $4,499 through Amazon for the PRO-111FD Elite KURO 50 HD 1080P Plasma TV.

Christmas Wish List: Amazon Kindle

With Christmas Eve less than six weeks away, we are going to review some of the cool media-related gifts on the market.

Today its the Amazon Kindle Wireless Reading Device. Amazon says that it’s a “revolutionary electronic-paper display provides a sharp, high-resolution screen that looks and reads like real paper.”

You don’t need to sync to a computer with the Kindle, since it uses the wireless EVDO network to connect to Amazon’s servers.

Of course, what’s on those servers is what really matters: 190,000 books, periodicals and blogs available for download, including most of the titles on the New York Times Best Seller list, and only for $9.99 for each e-book.

The Amazon Kindle costs $359.00 and comes with free shipping…click here to order the Kindle.
