Deep Background for April 2011

As we enter a new month in Erie media, one wonders if April will be as tumultuous as March.
What will be the big moves, what will the spring ratings period for radio, and the lead up to the May TV sweeps bring?

We will discuss what you want to discuss in the local and national media context in this open forum. Leave a comment below, send an email, or Tweet @pressandtower with what’s on your mind.

Deep Background for March 2011

New faces, new channels, new ideas. Beloved friends transitioning; challenges, and complexities abound.

This is the stuff of the media world in Erie and throughout our nation. Ink and pixels, waveform, and wavelengths we cover it all on this open forum.

Deep Background for February 2011

February is the month for Punxsutawney Phil, February sweeps, Oscar contests, snowmageddon and the Super Bowl. Can’t think of a bigger media month than this one!

Meanwhile, this space sits at the ready for a conversation on what excites, encourages, disgusts, and annoys you about Erie media. Keep it civil…and keep it going.

Deep Background for December 2010

Wow…it’s December already?!?

That means we made it through sweeps, through “Bristol-gate” on Dancing With The Stars, while the networks are hoping for a royal wedding smack dab in the middle of May 2011 Nielsens. The overloaded Thanksgiving newspaper is already in the recycling bin, and Classy 100 and WCTL are “bells-to-the-walls” all Christmas.

Embrace the ho-ho-ho chaos!

Deep Background for October 17-23, 2010

The line dividing national and local media has gotten fuzzy in recent days, with local personalities and events getting national media attention. We’ll talk about that later in the week, but meanwhile you can talk about what you want to on this open forum. And here is a challenge: try not to be contrary for contrarian’s sake. If you have criticism, voice it in a constructive and civil manner.
