The significance of the tectonic change in the media landscape locally and nationally in the last decade has not been lost on AJ Miceli.

The chair of the Comm Arts department at Gannon University sounds off on the toll taken and opportunity embedded in the state of media today after such a period of change that we find ourselves in. In our podcast, we discussed a broad range of topics, hopefully with a firm grasp of the tough reality that media organizations find themselves in. Thanks to AJ for taking the time with me and thanks to you for listening.

I have a treat for all of our P&T radio junkies. This Press and Tower podcast features an exclusive interview with Dave Kaelin.

Dave is half of the syndicated morning show Dave and Jimmy, originating from WNCI/Columbus where Dave has awakened the Buckeyes for the better part of 19 years.

Dave got his start in the Erie market, attending Edinboro University and as an air personality on WSEG and WJET-FM in the 1980′s until he went on to WNCI. Longtime Erie radio listeners will remember him as Wailin’ Dave Calin on Jet FM 102, part of the Cook and Calin drive-home show that was so popular 20 years ago.

Enjoy this time of remembering the past and Dave’s take on the current and future state of broadcast radio.

On Monday, Jan. 5th, I had the good fortune to speak to the New Media class at Mercyhurst College. I shared my story and observations on what is happening in media today with this eclectic group of students, coming in from several different majors.

I took advantage of the face time I had with these members of the “under-30″ crowd to lead them in a short conversation of their media usage habits, and I recorded our chat for this podcast.

I hope you enjoy it and please chime in with your observations in the comments.
