Thomas to leave Nexstar

Kim Thomas

Kim Thomas

WJET/WFXP News Director Lou Baxter tells P&T that he’s on the lookout for a new primary anchor to partner with Sean Lafferty. Kim Thomas will leave at the end of the month to join the office of State Senator-elect Sean Wiley.

Lou continues:

Kim has done a great job for us the past 6 years ago, having spent the last two of them on the anchor desk with Sean Lafferty. We wish her the best of luck. We have launched a nationwide search for her replacement. In the interim, Sean will solo.

Tapes and resumes to lbaxter@wjettv.com.

Wow. And people think Jet is more stable than Lilly? How many anchor combos is this now for Sean Lafferty? Kevin and Amanda at ICU have been together for almost 12 years now. Makes one wonder whats really going on at Upper Peach these days?

  2. ByTheWay says:

What’s going on up on Peach? Let’s see…regardless of who anchors up there…or how often they rearrange the deck chairs…they continue to soundly kick Kevin and Amanda’s tush in the ratings book. Ask any agency that buys the book. Wonder how they do that? Gee, what hasn’t changed on State St for 10 years?

There’s more trolling going on here than on Pymatuming Reservoir…..

One has to wonder if Kim Thomas was promised a position by Wiley before the election was over. Some of WJET’s coverage seemed to hammer Janet Anderson over her mailers. One piece in particular comes to mind:

This piece seemed to hammer Anderson for accepting Divecchio’s endorsement after her ads criticizing Wiley, but never questioned if there may have been character issues with Wiley seeing how the man who gave him his start in politics as his top aide endorsed the candidate opposite his party.

I may be off base here, but I think it is fair to at least question whether the journalistic integrity of WJET was compromised here.

The door continues to revolve in Erie as good young talent leaves for better jobs offering more money.

  6. Sean says:

Well I think online streaming someday will have a monopoly on all TV distribution and viewing, but times are changing and we will survive.

  7. the other max says:

Well, she’ll have a job as long as Wiley’s in office. What then?

  8. Brian says:

What “book” do our local tv stations have for ratings? How do we really know who is #1? You would think they would have air time if they knew who was in first place.
