Embrace the chaos!
The story is good news about Erie, PA.
Someone in Pittsburgh ate here and wrote up a story there, that they liked their meal here.
Where did they eat?
What did they have?
Who did the review?
What induced them to come here….did they hear of this spot, or do they have a son/daughter running the restaurant?
How much is the meal/menu items?
What kind of food is served?
GoErie heard that the Pittsburgh review was done, and decided to inform the local population, that YES, good news is printed about our community.
You would think the details answering ANY of the questions above would be in the story.
At a modicum, the story online at GoErie should have a link to the real and original Pittsburgh story about Erie Restaurants.
The ETN only publishes which place will kill you this week, as they regurgitate free reports from the Health Department, to the detriment of our community.
(This is deplorable policy at ETN as the only thing we need to know is the Health Department functions as it should. Much damage is done to local eateries as ETN uses Health Dept.information to fill space).
I know of no other newspaper that does this to their community. They trust their health department to do their job correctly, and safeguard the public.
In all my years reading GoErie,I have never seen an article on good news about Erie…..
reduced to a single sentence, answering NONE of the above questions.
Have a laugh and read this entire “article”of good news!

That’s our ETN!
Anybody have a link to the real story, at a real newspaper, so we can read what is good about Erie,PA from afar?
A very nice article. There is even a nice write up on some of our beautiful landmarks!

Thanks Dan Sheldon!
The article is even MORE than I expected, and was done by China Millman, a restaurant critic for the Post-Gazette. (This is NOT a family puff piece and induces people to cometo Erie very nicely).
I will write her a “Thank You” note later this day, and ask that she include the “heads up”on her Twitter Account, as it mentions nada of this fine article there.
I appreciate your quick response Dan, and if you ever need a job at the ETN, I would be happy to write a reference on your talent and speed, as well as accuracy.
Thank God for the Press and Tower again!
Not sure if you’re aware but the 3 tower array at WWVA 1170 (Wheeling) collapsed due to high winds from a storm. The station has temporarily put its programming on another station in that area at 1400.
Another departure from JET, Luke Simons is leaving to go back home to Texas where he’ll host Baylor Athletics’ weekly show. They sent him off during tonight’s newscast on FOX 66. A solid pro during his six-year tenure here and he’ll be missed.
The Sports Director position is posted on their site, and I would believe Craig Smylie has first shot at a promotion unless they decide to hire from elsewhere.
And the door continues to revolve in Erie broadcating. Don’t let it hit you in the butt on your way out. Will the last person leaving Erie please turn out the lights (and turn off the TV…there’s no one left to watch it).
I saw the tribute for Luke Simons on WJET…not much effort there, other than stringing a bunch of standups and “live” shots together. What happened to the days when we incorporated well wishes from area athletes and coaches and fellow co-workers? Even our on air tributes have cut back !!!
Here’s a thought. WJET should make a play for either Mike Ruzzi or Gary Drapcho. Sports, unlike other jobs in this market benefit from knowing who’s who in sports.
This could make for some competitive coverage and in the end, the viewer would benefit.
Who is the gal doing the WSEE morning show with Ray?
@ “Sam the Butcher”
The new morning news anchor on WSEE debuted on Mornings Live Thursday morning. Her name is Jill Perkins, and, from comments made on-air, sounds like she comes from the Pittsburgh area. Her “resume tape” (seen here on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duzNORPskN8) shows that she has done work for Action News 4 in Pittsburgh (possibly for an internship). WSEE has yet to put a picture and biography on the “Meet the News Team” page on their website. Prior to her debut Thursday, she has been seen on WSEE anchoring the local news/weather segments that air during CBS’s “The Early Show.”
Friend told me that WICU/WSEE also hired a new sports guy after watching the news yesterday… Tim Mellow is his name, I believe.
@ Bobby
That could be true. Saturday and Sunday, on Weekends Now, WICU/WSEE used Jim Pfeiffer as their weekend sports anchor. I get the impression that Pfeiffer has been working for Lilly Broadcasting for a while.
Could this be a sign of changing times? KDKA has dropped to 5th in the Pittsburgh numbers. It was always a given that KD will be #1 or #2 in the arbs.
Would someone in charge of news content over at WICU/WSEE (I know, “someone in charge” is quite the oxymoron) please tell John Rupollo that he is not the story. I have seen two reports in the past week, both starting with a standup, a standup bridge and a standup close. John, if you desperately need content for your demo reel, please don’t pad your own career at the sake of the local news. The story this past week could have started with the most compeling video of the honor guard welcoming home a fallen soldier, but instead Erie viewers had to see the reporter “Bah blah blah”a standup.
RULE #1 OF TV NEWS: BEST VIDEO AND SOUND FIRST. (It’s basic story telling) Please don’t tell me some hack from Magid and Associates says the trend is to show the reporter as much as possible. JOHN YOU ARE NOT THE STORY….PERIOD!
They still do news at WICU/WSEE!!!??? Really!? Huh, will wonders ever cease. Good for them!
12/35…a rudderless ship that continues crashing on the rocks. BL doesn’t care about news content as long as he makes $$$.
The ratings for the Erie radio market (#169) were released about a week ago. Take a look here: http://www.radio-info.com/site/markets/grid/erie
No surprises here: Star 104 outperforms everyone else. Taking a jump backward, Classy 100 has the second largest share of the audience. BOB is holding a steady audience and finds himself (or itself) in third place. Classic rocker Z-102.3 jumps ahead of Rocket 101. The Wolf continues to dominate Country 98. JET Radio is the best of the AM signals and its audience grows slightly. Meadville/Franklin’s Froggy 100.3 is quite popular with the country fans in Erie. ESPN 1260 holds a small, loyal audience while Fox Sports 1330 fails to make the ratings. Quite a few out-of-town and Canadian radio stations also have a small audience here in Erie.
By the way, WXTA-FM Country 98 has a job posting on All Access. The station is looking for a morning show host. Is syndicated Big D and Bubba not catching on in Erie?
Here’s a copy of the posting.

Does WICU/WSEE have anyone that can update the WSEE News Team on their website? It still lists Stephanie Schelkun – and she departed weeks ago. Also, who is that Woman doing the Morning Show with Ray? To say she is not very polished would be an understatement. Am I missing something? Is she any good? I don’t see it, but is she here for the standard “Two and Out” and then off to a major market?
Brian Lilly doesn’t care what the web site says so long as he rolls in the $$$.
