Deep Background for March 21-27, 2010

Are blogs dead?

That’s what my brother Jeff, who is pretty hip to media thinks. This theory is also being advanced by regular articles about young people moving from blogging to Twitter and Foursquare.

I must admit that this blog has been on life-support the last couple weeks, as I have had no energy left after very intense days at the office. I do appreciate everyone’s participation and I do have some ideas on the fire to share with you.

I was thinking about the old days of the Boston Store and it’s rich history of being a department store and an Erie landmark for so many Erie folks. I have noticed on several occasions that basement access from the lobby is roped off from the public. I have been wondering what is in the basement. What treasures are in that basement?

I think, and this is totally my opinion… I was thinking, it would be neat to get some old department store mannequins to reside in those studios. Mannequins present a somewhat human presence and they work cheap!
You see the connection? Department Store + Department Store Windows + Department Store Mannequin = Really Cool Totally Awesome Radio Station Studio Display. Give Boston Store visitors and the restaurant patrons across the lobby something to see. Draw your audience in!

Celebrate the Human element of radio!

Unless you’re going to buy the stations, give it up already Dave. We heard ya buddy; the first time

    Erie radio is DEAD

Youngstown’s WKBN, WYTV, WYFX are going to start broadcasting in HD starting April 19th. So Lilly and Nexstar, what are your plans?

Lilly’s plan are to continue to take the money and run. I wouldn’t expect BL to spend anymore money than he has to to run the station’s.

  5. Sylvester says:

Lilly is too **edit** to convert to HD. Not sure what Nexstar will do, but a look at their Financial’s would suggest they don’t have the available cash on hand to switch all their stations to HD news.

    Once again Erie gets screwed.

  6. Mainstreet Citizen says:

OMG WHAT WILL WE DO???? HOW WILL WE CONTINUE WITH OUR MUNDANE LITTLE LIVES WITHOUT HD NEWS?????? HOW WILL OUR NATION SURVIVE THESE TRYING TIMES WITH OUT ME BEING ABLE TO SEE THE PIMPLE ON SCOTT BREMNERS FACE IN EXTREME DETAIL?
Millions are out of work and millions more losing their homes…while we fight a war and our government keeps on spending…lets get a grip huh?

Im so distraught that I may end it all…right here, on our non-hd newscast.
