The answer is an expansion of low power FM, not pirate radio, that will bring more culture and relevance to the airwaves. The Senate recently voted for the expansion of LPFM, so if you’d like to foray into real local radio go to http://www.fcc.gov/lpfm/ and start doing your homework.

Sure is a lot of crap on the radio these days, i applaud the efforts of these pirates to bring something worth listening to on the radio. Unless you like the mindless dribble on corporate cloned radio, then by all means complain away.

Heck, Darrell Sivik in Meadville has been a pirate on 88.3 for years though he says that he can broadcast as long as the coverage does not exceed 20 miles. (Um, actually it’s 1/4 of a mile.) Yeah (Sarcasm) and he is also allowed to run ads in the non comm band as well. Darrel needs to follow the law like Sam Reese at 92.9 WXCS did with his LEGAL operation out of Cambridge Springs.

I find it ironic that some people are using illegal means to spread the Gospel. Perhaps they should be reminded about the commandment that forbids stealing.

They are pirate stations that are illegal to operate. In addition, they are running ads in the non commercial band of 88.1 to 91.9 FM.
