Roger – I think with Diane Sawyer taking over for Charlie Gibson we are going to have more “Entertainment Tonight” type newscasts on ABC.

Case in point (reference previous post)….I am watching Charlie Gibson introduce a story about the years most played YouTube video. Hello? This is news?

FYI, it was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY (or a combination of all videos featuring her). 120 million views.

Interesting….but how about putting it on Entertainment Tonight, not World News Tonight.

Sometimes when I watch the major network evening newscasts, I shake my head at how dumbed down TV news has become since the days of the Huntley/Brinkley era.

Joel,

I have to disagree. Is it really the best way to catch ALL the news in a short capsule? Don’t you find that you only see the stories that THEY think are important and what THEY think you should know about? And even with those, do you think they give the stories enough time for them to give a complete picture of whats going on? The more I see the more I’m amazed at the stuff they ignore and the fluff that passes as newsworthy.
Its no surprise that people are getting their news from other sources.
