Aimee ‘The Outlaw’ is out-of-town

Aimee “The Outlaw” Clemson has evidently fled the den.

Press and Tower has unconfirmed reports that Aimee quit her job Monday morning as morning show host of WTWF/Fairview-Erie (93.9 The Wolf). She is no longer listed as a DJ on The Wolf’s website.

Aimee was the controversial replacement for Shannon Solo in September 2008. Co-host Kyle remains along with afternoon drive/promo guy Chuck Rambaldo, the only flesh and blood local personalities associated with the station. The rest of the schedule is voicetracked or via satellite.

P&T will attempt to get an official quote from Connoisseur Media brass. Note: as of the end of the week no comment from CM was made to P&T.

  2. Dan Sheldon says:

I’m a little offended by this. Greg Mauz and myself do live weekend shifts on the Wolf. Kyle and Chuck aren’t the only “flesh and blood” associated with the station.

  3. Hmmmmmmmmmmm…….I wonder if it had anything to do with the call aired just prior to the 7 AM newscast on Monday…..my young friend be ever vigilant of what goes out over the airwaves….even if it is a listeners phone call. You will and should be held responsible.
“____” happens if you know what I mean and those of you who have been that as long as me know exactly what I mean.

  4. Aimee Clemson says:

    Hi All!

Dan Sheldon shot me a msg earlier, directing me back to this lovely blog…

Let me just nip this in the bud now, before it gets out of hand like last time! ha ha

Yes, I resigned. It has nothing to do with anything or anyone at Connoisseur.

It’s purely a decision my husband and I made for the benefit of our family.

This decision wasn’t and isn’t easy. I love radio. I love Erie. But, I love my family more.

As you may or may not know, I had a baby boy 18 weeks ago, and now consider myself lucky to be able to stay at home and raise him.
I thank my husband for providing so well for us financially, so that I don’t have to miss a second of my baby boys life!

On the other hand, I LOVED my time at the Wolf. I did what I set out to do! I may have only been there for 2 books, but during those two books…well you know. :)

So, I’m trading in the mic for a wooden spoon and an apron… This morning my husband even wrote in marker on the vacum “Aimee Clemson’s Mic” Real Nice!!! Argh!

The doors at Connoisseur have been left open for me, and maybe soon I’ll do some part time, simply for the fun of it.

As lucky as I am, It’s bitter sweet… With a tear in my eye, there’s a smile on my face.

    I will miss you all…

Kyle, If you read this… keep it up! You are so very talented (you immature punk) ha ha. Keep those ratings up and kick some Big D and Butt Head Butt!!!! Love ya kid! Miss ya!

    Bye For Now

    ~Aimee~

  5. Aimee Clemson says:

Oh, and No… I was very careful and did edit.. I remember what phoner you were referring to… he said sh..I edited it. Thanks though! That call was never even brought up by anyone till now. And seriously… Do you really think I would be let go for a swear word? C’mon now! lol I’ve had MANY slip ups in my days, but that wasn’t one of them. I’m glad you were listening! Awesome!
    :)

See… exactly why I had to post that msg… The rumors are already starting.

  6. joel says:

    Aimee…
As always thank you for your candor and giving us the full scoop. Best wishes on your promotion to the most important job in the world.

    Dan…
No offense intended…but your Wolfie webmaster might do better in giving us a clue who’s live and who’s MP3 and when (you guys aren’t listed)…sorry about the slight.

  7. Dan Sheldon says:

I suppose saying I was offended was a little strong but yes, there 2 of us live on weekends.

As for Aimee. I worked with her at “the other place” and at the Wolf. She is very talented and will be missed.

Having a new son myself, I think it’s very commendable that Aimee and her husband talked it over and realized that they could make it with one income. I think it’s awesome that she is taking time to be with her family. What is any of this worth without family?

I’ve seen Aimee really grow and learn from past mistakes!

    YOU GO GIRL!

  8. the other max says:

I guess we were all surprised because this seemed so sudden. Did Aimee do a “last show” or say goodbye? I would think that if this were voluntary, she would have left on a Friday and there might have been a bit of fanfare. But the fact that it was a sudden departure on a Monday kinda raised some suspicions…which now appear to be unfounded.

    All the best Aimee.

  9. BRAVO to you…..there is life after radio! Enjoy yours with your Husband and children! They truly are the “real meaning of life”.
I remain yours in GREAT radio.
    The Captain

  10. Erie Radio Insider says:

I agree with “the other Max”. If Aimee wanted to go out with a bang, she would have had a fanfare of a goodbye, so her “fan(s)” could wish her well.

I will not miss her very LONG phone conversations, man-bashing, and dirty laundry airing. Good luck being a stay at home mom. It is the greatest, underappreciated job you’ll ever have.

  11. Big Dawg says:

I would just like to say that im going to miss the “Out Law”. I listened to her and Kyle every morning and thought they did an awesome job..Any women who quits a high profile awesome job like that for her family is number 1 in my book.
I liked how she always put people in there place, said what i was thinking, and told it like it was.

Anyone out there that thinks they have to insult Aimee, why dont you just keep your comments to yourself because you sound ridiculous. So Aimee i wish you the best, im still gonna listen to kyle, but it wont be the same without you.
    your friend B-Dawg

  12. erietruther says:

not surprised, there for the spike in the first book to claim credit for it, then the 2nd book goes down and she’s out let’s all applaud

  13. Jen M says:

yay! we all knew this was going to happen! .. bet they’ll want shannon solo back now … he was the best part of wolf radio! .. but too bad he is getting praise in Nashville , Tn ! MUSIC CITY! heck ya this is the best news I’ve heard all day! boo to people who just quit their jobs without a word ..shows so much loyal and trust in a person not to leave out responsibility

  14. Aimee Clemson says:

Get your facts right “erie truther” The ratings had a HUGE spike and stayed high for the two books I was there! There was a “slight” very slight, dip in the Spring book, but the Wolf was still on top… beating out the new “syndicated show on 98,” plus, also remember, I was out for 12 weeks on maternity leave. Just saying.

I’m not one to fight over my keyboard, but I have zero respect for people who can’t get their FACTS straight, while having no guts to put their full name behind their ignorant comments. Alias’s are for cowards.
Easy to sit back and talk non sense when theres no validity to your statements.

A lot of people don’t like me, that comes with the territory of being in the spotlight… so knock me all you want, but when it comes to FACTS and ratings… get them right.

My leaving had NOTHING to do with ratings. My ratings exceeded expectations and thrilled the management…
I left for my family. I owe nothing to anyone but my family. That’s who I’m loyal to, that’s who trusts me.

It’s obvious this site is one sided. Always has been, always will be. It’s full of has beens, never were, and never will be’s.

I’ve said my peace. I’ll take solace in reading my mounting e mails of listeners letters, that are congratulating me on the very hard, but important decision I made.

The rest of you that hide behind your alias’s and insecurities…
I’ve learned the hard way that the green eyed monster is hard to tame, and you will continue to attack me at every turn…even when I do an admirable thing, like give up a lucrative, high rated, driver spot, in a top country morning show, for my family!

Pick my life apart and insult me all you want… We all know it only means one thing… Your envy is sickening to me, and you’re probably sitting in your Mommy’s basement right now, hiding behind your computer screen and fake name… Don’t choke on your ice chips reading this! :)

I promise I have no more to say, that is until I’m back in Erie, when my little boy gets a little older.

And enough about Shannon Solo… Shannon. Only YOU remember you! lmbo
I find it incredibly curious that for as long as I was there, ZERO listeners called in to say they missed him. Melissa on the other hand… was well liked… I secretly am rooting for her to get my spot and even suggested her to my higher ups!

(This msg is not intended for my “good friends” at press and tower) but, a little more support and “facts” from you guys would help when I’m being attacked like a red headed step child! lol

You all know you’ll miss my smart **edit**! lol… Who else stirs up this much controversy on a freakin’ blog?
I gotta close my door on Erie for now, and enjoy my new life.
    Goodbye,
    God Bless!

  15. Tim says:

Question for Joel: Since Aimee used the term “smart **edit**” does this mean Press and Tower is now open to the usage of profanity? :)

BTW: Why does Aimee harbor such animosity towards Shannon? Just wondering.

  16. joel says:

Missed that Tim…made the edit so that sensitive eyes won’t see.

Aimee…I figured you could handle your own self-defense. I sure wouldn’t want to take you on in a Battle of the DJ’s!

  17. Heather says:

I am Aimee’s sister, I know the truth. Throughout everything in her life, I have known the truth behind every decision that she has made and all the “mistakes” she has gone through. The focus should not be on a person’s past, but what they do NOW!!!
No one is perfect, so to hold small mistakes she has made in the past against her now, is WRONG. She did resign because of her family. She is putting her family first. For many years, she was unable to do this. Being a single, working mother she had to make sure there was food on the table and a roof over their heads. Now that she is financially secure and married, with her husband’s guidance and support, she came to the decision that they can make it one income. I applaud her.
To talk about people and spread rumors is just spreading hate. Do you really hate another living person this much? You can dislike them, but to throw insults and vicious lies around is wrong. Again, no one is perfect. My sister has only tries to live her life the best she can and do what she loves. When she called to tell me that she had resigned, she was full of mixed emotions… happy that she would now be able to spend every waking moment with her children and sad because she was leaving a job that she loved, and LIVED for. But, she did make the best decision because her CHILDREN are her LEGACY, not her job!
I hope those who continue to spread lies and rumors about her, find peace. To live your life making others feel bad, so you feel good, is very sad.

  18. Erie Radio Insider says:

If she did resign for her family, why such a quick depature? Why not relish in everything she brought to Erie radio and really give a heartfelt goodbye? Why not explain to the listeners why she was leaving?

Aimee… I think part of you left for your family. I think the other part was that you were working alongside LEGENDARY DJ’s in this town and Connoissuer didn’t feel the need to feed your ego.

Congrats Aimee. Bad publicity is still publicity.

  19. Johnny Marx says:

All the best to you, Aimee. Family definitely trumps everything else.

  20. Dick Santiago says:

I would just like to comment on all this insanity going on.. Aimee i would like to say that you are the reason I listened to the Wolf.
When you were gone on maternity leave i had to change the station on my way to work, cuz i couldnt stand that Kyle kid.
I give you alot of credit cuz im sure you had your hands full with him.
I applaud you for what you did for your family. I wish my wife would have done that when she was pregnant back in the early 90s.
Aimee, i would just like to tell you that im going to miss your voice in the morning. You made me laugh my butt off.

Remember hun, people that say dirty rotten things **edit** are just jealous. Im a pretty good detective being thats what I do for a living. I would bet my house that the people who are talking bad about you are the people that want to be you, or they wanted your job at one point in time.
**edit** You seem like a very intelligent girl, so I’m sure you already figured that out, along with the rest of us reading these comments. It’s so obvious, and I feel so bad for you. For someone not to like you to the extent of taking time out of their day to hurt you, really says something about how insanely envious of you they are… so take pride in that girl!

I never liked listening to Kyle when you werent there. So Aimee if you read this keep your head up and enjoy your family. Im not going to listen to the wolf anymore. **edit**

I saw a couple of my other “FAV” Dj’s on here… a quick hi, The Capt and Johnny Marx… You three put together would be radio gold!

    Mr. S.

  21. Jennifer says:

I’d just like to say that I previously worked with Aimee. I am 100% not jealous of her, as I have a rewarding career and do appreciate a strong level-headed woman.

People don’t like her because she seems arrogant… especially in person.

It’s the typical radio narcissistic personality that many in radio have… and she won’t be the last to act that way.

Aimee replying to the thread about her might be brave, but it also might be narcissistic.

Best of luck on her next adventures but it’s laughable that everyone’s jealous.

  22. DANA says:

HI AMIEE! WE ALL MISS YOU AT BVSD. WE WERE THRILLED WHEN YOU CAME BACK TO ERIE. REALIZING YOU MAY NOT BE COMING BACK I TOLD EVERYONE I’D GET TO THE BOTTOM OF IT. TRIED CALLING THE STATION. BUSY SIGNAL ALL DAY. GOOGLED YOUR NAME AND THIS CAME UP.
OH NO, YOURE REALLY GONE AGAIN!
KYLE DRIVES US INSANE! YOU WOULD THINK IF THEY LET YOU GO THEYD ATTEMPT TO GIVE US SOMEONE AT LEAST A QUARTER AS GOOD AS YOU. WOW, WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO BEING A DEEJAY? EVEN IF IT WASN’T THE WOLFS FAULT YOUR GONE, WE WONT BE LISTENING ANYMORE. YOU KEPT US INFORMED, ENTERTAINED, AND MOST IMPORTAINTLY, YOU WERE REAL. I’VE MET YOU A FEW TIMES WHEN YOUR CHILDREN WENT TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND YOU HAD SUCH A BRIGHT HAPPY AND CAPTIVATING PERSONALITY. I SEE ABOVE OTHERS THINK OTHERWISE. AMIEE ALL I CAN SAY IS THEY MUST NOT KNOW YOU. OR LIKE YOU SAID THEY ARE ENVIOUS. BECAUSE YOU WERE NOTHING BUT SWEET AND DOWN TO EARTH NOT TO MENTION INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL.
    GOOD BYE WOLF
    COME BACK AIMEE
    CONGRATS ON THE BABY!
    MISSED BY ALL
    DANA AND FRIENDS

  23. Ron Forness says:

To those who wonder why she left with no fanfare, this is Erie radio, they figure that when someone quits or is fired we the listeners won’t notice that the DJ has left the air. They must think we are stupid (or should I say stoopid?)

  24. Kristen says:

I have to say that I love all this controversy and DRAMA! I feel like we are in Hollywood, but we are just in dreary Erie!!! Obviously…Aimee, that would make you a STAR! People are always hating on people, don’t you all remember what Jesus said?!?
“Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
You all really need to think about that a lot more before you open your big mouths and puposely hurt someones feelings.
Aimee was just doing her job, man-bashing, dirty laundry and all. I loved it, her show was entertaining and I listened every day on my way to work. Although, I didn’t agree with everything Aimee talked about, I still enjoyed her opinion. Just another reason why it is AWESOME to be an AMERICAN!! We have freedom of speech…even if we do have a morning show on the radio!
Aimee, I would have loved to hear a farewell show, but I understand sometimes we don’t always get what we want. Good luck and Godspeed!

  25. shannon says:

someone told me about this so I thought I’d take a look
very amusing:) hell I’ve even forgot about me ha..the reasons for the animosity..let’s say I know what they are;)
I wish everyone good luck in radio roulette up there..
    I again thank my friends

    Doug

I’m not that much of a country music fan, but Shannon and Melissa had a good thing
going with the Wolf morning show. It sounded different than the others
    and really stood out.

    Amy

I don’t even live in the state but listen online when I can…solely for the purpose of Shannon Solo.

    Jen

The Wolf morning show will NEVER be the same.. I was a huge fan and
then got deployed and still listened from overseas online. Good luck to
Shannon and Melissa in whatever they decide to do.. They are both
awesome DJ’s and even better friends….

    Tim

I can’t believe Connie Media would do this! Shannon and Melissa in
the morning were excellent! I hope Shannon keeps his weekend gig at WICU – he does a fine job forecasting the weather.

    Chandler
Shannon was great on Froggy when I was at Star. He is a pro, and will be missed on the radio airwaves.

    Lauren
Shannon and Melissa were such a refreshing change and a HUGE mistake was made in taking them off the air.

    Rhonda

Melissa and Shannon were AWESOME. Sorry to not hear you guys in the morning. I hope to hear you on another radio station soon.

    Jane

Shannon and Melissa are pros that brought listeners to the The Wolf.
There are many of us left now looking for another radio station to
listen to on the way to work. They brought a smile to my face each
morning. What a sad state of affairs for the Erie market that the
corporate heads at The Wolf were unable to recognize their talent.

    Jeanne

I LOVED Solo and Matthews. they are the ones who got me hooked on Country
    Music.

    Shari

I stopped listening to Froggy when BOB came along. I followed Shannon to the Wolf.

    Kim

Hope everything’s going well… I’ll miss hearing your voice in the mornings Shannon!!

    Nathan

Can’t believe you guys aren’t on the wolf anymore. It was the only real morning show in Erie. Boo.

All the best with your future.

    Michelle

hey shannon sorry about the wolf! i miss ur show so much!!

  26. Erie Radio Insider says:

Wow, Shannon. You couldn’t have forgotten yourself THAT much! Ya know what? That would have been a hell of a show. You and Aimee… battle of the egos!

  27. Jim says:

That’s the funniest thing i’ve heard all week!
FYI- that was Shannon and his 15 imaginary friends!
Who would copy and paste old fake messages about themselves? I know. Someone who is very insecure.

If anything… you ought to be embarrassed about your performace at the Wolf, and put your tail between your legs and get the heck out of town. (or stay out of town)
Aimee brought the Wolf from the very very bottom where you left it,(AM stations were beating you) to the very top (#1 Country Morning Show in Erie) The proof is in the ratings. How embarrassing that must be for you.

I’m just sick and tired of hearing all the lies when people don’t know the facts. If you’re such a big time Nashville, Big shot, then why are you worried about little old Erie?

There’s nothing you or ANYONE can say bad about Aimee. She was the top rated Country Morning show and hung out on top with the rest of Connoisseurs best!

Before Aimee came to Erie, the Wolf was on it’s last leg. It needed a miracle to get out of the hole the former morning show dug. She did it and that’s an awesome feat!

Aimee has never and would never say a bad thing about you or anyone. But I’m her designated backbone, so watch out because I’m not going to stand for one more person making my wife into something she’s not. She will put up with this nonsence, but I won’t!

Just remember, Aimee and I were sitting at home when she recieved the call offering her the driver spot (your spot) she was never out to get your job.
Don’t hate her because she took the Wolf from the outhouse to the penthouse!

And to you Jimbo… Me thinks Aimee is a very intelligent great person. Me thinks she is a wonderful mother and an even better wife. So if there’s anymore “me thinks or wants” to say about Aimee you or any of you haters can talk to ME. jim.rich76@yahoo.com.
(and for those of you who didn’t read Jimbos post take a look, and you’ll better understand why I’m not being gramatically correct)

In the meantime, I’ll be enjoying my wife and am incredibly grateful that I no longer have to share her with Erie!

    Bye!

  28. Pete says:

WOW!!! Who cares? I’m serious. WHO CARES?

  29. Pete says:

Crude = no imagination. Andrew Dice Clay is a has been and Bill Cosby does 2 hours of great material to sold out shows at the age of 72 without swearing and it’s hysterical. Crude gets attention but has no sustainability. I love seeing these egos go back and forth in a huge market that is Erie. “this show is all about me!!!” Beware of the “Me” monster!! “With 50 minutes of music and nearly 145 listeners, it’s The Wolf!!!” Guess what? The show is about the listeners not you!!! These “personalities” (whatever) think that the show is about “them.” WRONG!! What kind of “wacky” brain teaser are we doing today? “1 out of 3 women think their man should do this . . . .” The answer is, “not listen to this crap!” Sorry, I went off on a tangent but there are about 14 people in Erie that actually care about this crap. 1) The PD of the Wolf 2) the PD of Country 98 3) Aimee the “Outlaw” (right) 4) Shannon 5) Any family members of either of the aforementioned people 6) 3 people in Wattsburg 7) the same 3 people that call in to win the “wacky” brain teasers 8) anyone who can’t get meadville stations. There are great people out there that do this job for the LISTENERS. Dan Sheldon is one name that comes to mind. A great guy who loves the job and is thankful for his listeners. Dan may not be wacky or controversial but he will take the time to talk to you, on the air or in person, and is a class act. He knows his music and works at his craft.

  30. Dan Sheldon says:

Thanks dad, how much do I owe you? I kid. (BTW, I’d like to think I’m a little whacky :) )

I do thank you for the kind words.

I’ll tell you what. I remember when I was a kid growing up in the 80’s. I listened to the radio non stop, Hit Radio 14 WJET, K-104 you got it, Red Hot 102 WSEG. I loved not only the music but the DJ’s too. I would tape songs and leave it taping so I could get the DJ talking. JJ Sanford and Night Norb Anthony were my favorite local DJ’s. (Rick Dees was my national hero). I later met and worked with JJ. I still consider him a friend and have used him as a reference on my resume. Thank you Jim for being as great a guy as I always imagined you’d be.

Night Norb is a different story. I only met him once and that was years ago when I won an album from Jet (Rocky IV soundtrack) and he insisted that I pick it up so he could meet me. I used to call him every night for the Top 10 at 10. He always took time to talk to me. He was always so nice to this Wilson Middle school student and he didn’t need to be. He left an everlasting impression on me. I try to be as nice to my callers as he was to me. (it’s not always easy LOL)

As for thinking about the listeners, there is an old joke in radio that says “If it weren’t for the listener we’d be talking to ourselves.” I think we all try to relate to our audience. Only a small percentage of listeners will actually call a radio station so you work with what you can when you do trivia questions and request shows and what not. As many people who might enjoy listening to my style, others will hate it. Same with any jock. You can’t please everyone everytime as hard as we try. I have Joe Lang to thank for teaching me A LOT about how to do showprep and how to think about the listener in what I broadcast.

As for ego’s, some of the biggest names in the industry got to where they are because of their ego. Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh come to mind. I don’t see ego as necissarily a bad thing. In fact, I think Rush’s ego is what makes him entertaining.

I guess my long winded post has nothing to do with this thread so I’ll stop now but I sill text back and forth from time to time with Aimee and consider her a good friend too. (BTW, I like Shannon too).

  31. kc says:

wow sounds like pete has somewhat of an ego. a couple derogatory comments…3 people in wattsburg. i have a feeling i know which “pete” is so judgemental. some people actually enjoy the brain teasers or something to lighten the mood. one out of three women think their men should…shut the hell up
oops i mean shut your mouth darling

  32. Pete says:

kc, you’re right, my post made me sound like a jerk.

  33. kc says:

and i sounded like a beotch. peace

  34. Christine says:

I am not sorry to say I will not miss Aimee. I quit listening to the wolf when she was brought aboard and now that she is gone I will turn the channel back. You either love her or hate her.

  35. Jamie says:

I have noticed Dan Sheldon being on air this week. He sounds great!
