Extreme Makeover: Erie misses season premiere slot

Wards react to the reveal

Clara Ward’s story won’t mark the launch of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition season premiere.

Instead it will be the build for the Huber family of Wisconsin, which took place over a month later than the Erie build that will be featured on the two-part Season 7 opener on Sunday, September 27th. From a news release:

“Huber Family,” Parts 1 & 2 — On August 3, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” traveled to South Range, WI, to tell Howard Huber, a hero firefighter and his service minded wife, Jessica, that they will have a newly rebuilt home in seven days. Two-time Emmy Award-winning actress Patricia Heaton is the celebrity volunteer for this episode – meeting the family, helping on the build — and the music group Five for Fighting (new single “Chances,” “Superman,” “100 Years”) will perform. The two-part Season Premiere episode airs SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 (7:00-8:00 & 8:00–9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

When Howie and Jessica met, they each felt they’d found a true partner, someone who valued hard work and community involvement. They bought a dilapidated farmhouse, figuring that Howie could fix it up within a few years, as he’d formerly worked in construction. Although they were struggling financially, Jessica, a nursing student, encouraged Howie to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a firefighter. Through long hours of hard work, and with as many as five jobs between them, the Hubers were able to both pay off their debt and see Howie established as the most popular and most decorated firefighter in town. In the meantime, both Hubers did everything they could to repair the old house that was the only home they could afford. Unfortunately, they now know that it is far beyond their ability to repair: The two story farmhouse has a chimney separating from house, improperly installed windows, severe water damage throughout, and the electrical, heat and sewage systems are unsafe. Every time Howie goes to work, he fears that the next 911 call he gets might be about his own home. Now it’s up to Ty and the gang to allay Howie’s fears and fulfill his wish to have a home that’s safe for their children.

Ok, so it may not be the first show, but by the looks of this promo, the Erie build should be hitting soon (Clara and her family are all over this piece).

Clara won’t be on the second week either:

“Hampton Family” — On July 14, 2009,”Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” traveled to Green County, Missouri, to tell the eight members of the Hampton family – all living in a cramped one-bedroom, one-bath cottage, 792 sq. ft. total – that they’ll have a new home in seven days. The original family of four doubled in size not long ago after a fateful phone call from a social services agency. Chris and Niki Hampton were told they had just one hour to decide if they would take in their four nieces and nephews or let them go to foster care. This episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” will air SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.
Ashley Tisdale (“High School Musical”) will be the celebrity volunteer for this build. The design team for this episode will feature team leader Ty Pennington and designers Michael Moloney and Paige Hemmis.
Chris and Niki didn’t hesitate to open their hearts and home to young Gage, Kira, Lexi and Jacob, who now range in age from two to eight years old. Squeezing out the space for them, together with eleven-year-old son Dakota and eight-year-old daughter Hannah, has been the real challenge. Currently the three boys share one set of bunk beds in the dining room, and the three girls share another set of bunks in what used to be a utility closet. Since the cottage has no closets, plastic storage bins are stacked floor-to-ceiling in every room. Dinner is served assembly line-style, and everyone sits on the floor except for the youngest children in booster seats. What the family lacks in comfort and space, they more than make up for with love. The children are incredibly close – literally and figuratively – and Chris and Niki look forward to the day when they move beyond full legal custody of their nieces and nephews to become their adoptive parents. Chris, a land surveyor, basketball & football coach and president of the Missouri Family Rodeo Association (MFRA), and Niki, a saleswoman and MFRA secretary, also have rescued six horses that live on their five-acre farm along with three dogs.

At this point, I’m thinking that ABC might be saving Clara Ward’s Erie build for the November sweeps (which would be another chance for a two-hour special-just hopin’):

“Hill family” – Ty Pennington and his team travel to Suffield, Connecticut with special reason to whistle while they work as they rebuild the small, fire-damaged and deteriorating home of the musical Hill family, who give the gifts of song and inspiration to their community, on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

This really could be good news. If they hold Clara Ward’s story to November sweeps, the Erie build could still end up as a two parter:

“EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” HELPS A WOUNDED POLICE OFFICER WHOSE PUBLIC SERVICE HAS BEEN ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY
Country Star Trace Adkins Volunteers for “Get on the Bus” Campaign
“Marshall family” — “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” traveled to Lancaster, Texas, to meet Carlton Marshall, who lost most of his mobility and all of his hearing after being shot while leading a Dallas Police Department SWAT team. Carlton and his wife, Susan, a homicide detective, learn that their home will be rebuilt in seven days – solving rampant structural and accessibility issues and enabling the Marshalls to continue their long-time volunteer work with horseback riding therapy for children and adults with mental and physical challenges. This episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” will air SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

OK, I’m pretty convinced now that the Clara Ward Erie PA build for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will be aired during the November sweeps, and as such will be a two-hour special. That’s my Erie rah-rah, Pollyanna-ish take, and I’m sticking to it!

“EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” REWARDS THE GENEROSITY OF
A BIG-HEARTED NEIGHBOR WHO SACRIFICED HIS OWN FAST-TRACK
FINANCIAL FUTURE TO FEED HUNDREDS OF HUNGRY FAMILIES

Celebrity Chefs Volunteer for “Get on the Bus” Campaign

“Montgomery Family” – On August 18, 2009, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” traveled to Champaign County, IL to meet Nathan Montgomery, who gave up a lucrative engineering career to start a charity that feeds hundreds of hungry families in his community. In just seven days, team leader Ty Pennington, his designers and hundreds of volunteers rebuilt the crumbling home for Nathan, his wife, Jenny, and their four children. “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” airs SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

Chefs Rocco DiSpirito, Sandra Lee, Spike Mendalsohn and Art Smith will be the celebrity volunteers for this build. The “EM:HE” design team also includes Michael Moloney, John Littlefield and Didiayer Snyder.

The wait continues for Clara Ward and everyone watching for the Extreme Makeover Erie build to air on ABC:

“EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” RESPONDS TO THE CALL OF AN EMT AND VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER WHO BECAME DISABLED BY A SPEEDING CAR
Country Music Superstar Clint Black Volunteers for “Get on the Bus” Campaign

“Mattingly Family” — On September 5, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and celebrity volunteer Clint Black traveled to Daviess County, KY to tell Steve and Melissa Mattingly that their current home, a small single-wide trailer, will be replaced by a newly constructed home built in just seven days. This episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” airs SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), on ABC.

Country music superstar Clint Black will be the celebrity volunteer to “Get on the Bus” for this build.

According to Zap2it.com, Clara Ward’s story will not be aired on 11/8 (Terpenning Family) or 11/15 (Stott Family) as well. So at least another month to wait…
