This is going to be another big week for Erie media. I mean when was the last time a national production company set up shop for a week to produce a one hour feature completely on site locally for one of the broadcast networks?
That’s what’s happening beginning Thursday morning when Extreme Makeover: Home Edition begins its eight-day construction odyssey for ABC television with a door knock on one Erie address. The Press and Tower plans on reporting the “behind the scenes” of how a production of this magnitude takes place.
You can discuss the project and just about anything else related to the Erie and national media on this open forum. Please send any private messages to joel@nataliemedia.com or tweet @pressandtower.
Embrace the chaos!

Inspiring coverage for ErieBlogs by @daniellesuzanne of the volunteer rally Friday morning at Grace Church.

Did WICU get rid of weekend newscasts? No 12News with Lisa Adams this past weekend.
12News: LESS is MORE!
I was just thinking that now that Rush is gone from the Erie airwaves and has vacated the Jet studio, now would be a good time for a format change….. We need to have music on JET! Mr. Rambaldo brought the AM 1400 frequency back to JET and put JET in the front center window… now we need to get JET back in line with it’s heritage…. a music format…. Oldies music, possibly a mixed Oldies/Classic hits format since all the Oldies stations around the nation are evolving into Classic Hits. Just a few passing thoughts.
A cautionary tale from today’s Broadcasting & Cable:
“Swim at Your Own Risk: Stations involved in content pools may save money. But they could also jeopardize ratings – and revenue.”

Hey, here’s a quick question… Is there any place in Erie that has information (news stories, audio clips, pictures, etc.) about Erie Radio’s past. I’ve been to the library, and I was thinking that there has to be a place where all the neat stuff from the days Top 40 Jet Radio, WRIE AM 1330, and K-104 resides. In my mind, I am seeing Radio Station Tee-Shirts, Music Surveys, and other promotional material in vacuum sealed glass cases locked away in some underground chamber. I have my stuff from my days at WRIE and WLKK, but I want more. It is my intention to open up an Erie Radio Museum. Maybe I could rent space in the Boston Store. It would have to be in close proximity of the Erie History Center.
Always remember, People, not computers, influence people. People, not computers, motivate people. The real heroes in Erie Media are people, not computers!
Word on the Topix board is that 12/35 dumped their weekend news until further notice…taken from a memo from his majesty B. Lilly.
Yeh…what the heck? I turned on 12 last night at 11, and I got Scott Bremner on the WSEE set. Yikes, I was confused.
Thank God David Belmondo was right where he’s supposed to be at 11.
And for my information…whats the Topix board and how do I find it?

Didn’t Mr Lilly say this WICU/WSEE combination would mean MORE local news coverage…or words to that effect? Probably didn’t apply to weekends. Sad indeed.
Haven’t watched local news in a few days, but a couple noteworthy items.
1) Lisa Weismann from 12 was anchoring the 11pm news a few times in the last week. Jacqueline Policastro was in D.C.
2) Mark Soliday was anchoring the Noon News on 35 on Tuesday. Not sure where Scott Bremner.
I really miss Raychel and Ray in the Morning. The other two morning program hosts are trying to imitate R and R, but are not succeeding. I am finding myself turning to the Cleveland and Youngstown morning shows more and more.
By the way, does anyone have any info about Raychel’s future plans?
Keep up the good work on this site!!!
Rachel is now on jet as a field reporter…but not sure how long that is going to last…she has only been on in spots over the course of a few months…Lisa’s profile on the wsee website seems to be disabled. Not sure if she was let go or not…but she hasn’t been on tv since last wednesday or thursday. So take it for what you will but it looks like there is a shake up at wsee again.
When isn’t there a shakeup at WSEE? The one thing that station could benefit the most from is the one thing it lacks – stability!
