Here’s what Lou Baxter wrote on my Facebook:

As we announced this morning on Good Morning Erie, five local families are under consideration. There is an extensive review and qualification process everyone connected with the project must go through. The lucky family won’t be announced until Ty Pennington knocks on their door with a bullhorn in hand. Stay tuned to JET-TV and YourErie.com for all of the developments leading up to the start of ABC’s Extreme Makoever Home Edition in Erie, Pa! This will be exciting!

…I always wondered how that worked. It would be terrible to NOT get a knock on your door. ugh.

  3. JimGriffey says:

Well, the family has to know in advance because I can’t believe that they’d just happen to be all dressed and ready to go to Disney World first thing in the morning.

  4. Dano says:

Watch closely when the family runs out the front door. Sometimes you can see the cordless mic attached to their backside.

  5. Haylie says:

Yeah, I find it hard to believe they wouldn’t know until the day of. I mean people have busy lives. They have work, doctor’s appointments, school and such. You’d have to know if you were going to be homeless for a week so you could prepare for that.

I’m anxious to hear the results, though!

What if you were coloring your hair when they came to the door or you had multiple personalities and the right personality wasn’t ready when they came to the door?

I think this is great for Erie, just the boost our city needs. It will certainly put us on the map and is good for our community involvement too.

Could also give Erie some bad publicity. Lord know the woman deserves the house, but that neighborhood is one of the worst in the city. Ptlmn. Joe Burchick was shot and killed just 2 blocks from the house…and her youth center was burned down by druggies. A nice part of Erie to show off to the world.

  9. Laurene says:

I think this is great for the ward family. She is a great lady. But I think the spectators should be more considerate of the neghbors around her. Not to throw trash around and park in driveways or blocking them.

I think that awful things can happen everywhere…I just recently moved to Erie. I used to live in Chester pa. down near philadelphia. All of Erie should realize they have it so lucky and work on keeping it so great. because there are worst places and my family and i have survived. Good luck to this Family. God bless what she has done for the community. Now we have to think what help she may need with cost of this brand new big house. With the community’s help anything is possible
