We have a bit of a diverse crowd here at The Press and Tower. When we asked about how necessary a home-delivered newspaper was to our readers, 38% said that they totally depended on the actual paper on their stoop. However, even more said that they could either deal with partial delivery on weekends or just read it online. Good for the newspaper folks: 82% of our readers consumed the news from the newspaper either in print or online.
We are now in playoff season for the NFL. For the past 18 weeks we have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to pro football play-by-play coverage. So, out of all of the “A Teams” at the networks, who is your favorite?
Which is your favorite NFL commentator "A-team" pairing?
- CBS: Jim Nantz/Phil Simms (33%, 10 Votes)
- NBC: Al Michaels/John Madden (27%, 8 Votes)
- FOX: Joe Buck/Troy Aikman (20%, 6 Votes)
- ESPN: Mike Tirico/Ron Jaworski/Tony Kornheiser (17%, 5 Votes)
- NFL: Bob Papa/Cris Collinsworth (3%, 1 Votes)
Total Voters: 30

My picks here would be Joe Buck and Troy Aikman followed by Al Michaels and John Madden then Nantz & Simms. The ESPN booth would be a lot better without Kornheiser in it. He brings the talent level down with his misplaced dry sense of humor. As for the NFL Network, replacing Bryant Gumbel with Bob Papa was a smart move. While Greg Gumbel is great at play by play, brother Bryant is not meant to be in the sports booth. He belongs on Entertainment Tonight or some other entertainment based program.
