P&T: first month in the can

Well we made it.

This, my 31st post, marks the one month anniversary of the launch of The Press and Tower. Over the past month we’ve covered stories about the media both locally and nationally, talking about radio, television, newspaper and new media.

We’ve introduced you to the new women on the local news, and broke the story of a morning man’s exit. We talked about MSNBC, HDTV, and John V. We scolded the newspaper for their lack of getting the whole story on the tire to energy plant, and celebrated the efforts of the Lilly TV stations in raising funds for cancer research.

All in all, in one month we’ve generated over 180 comments and 8500 hits from Minnesota to Montreal to Mentor. Some posts generated nary a whisper, while the reporting of the release of Shannon Solo and Melissa has totaled 68 comments and counting.

I have to tell you that I’m having a blast covering this media beat for you. I told my mentor (and first P&T commenter) A.J. Miceli of Gannon that this blog is bringing out my inner-journalist that I had stuffed away decades ago when I became a radio disc jockey instead of a news hound. I am very grateful to the Erie media establishment who are honoring my quest for first sources and have been quite helpful in sending along press releases and facilitating interviews.

I hope that you find the articles and discussion interesting and challenging. Please don’t hesitate to send me feedback; I’ve already received a few great ideas that I’ve tried to implement that I hope are helping enhance your experience with the blog.

Please continue to be a part of The Press and Tower’s success by participating with your comments or consider a guest post. If you have a business and you would like to attract savvy consumers and early adopters, consider advertising on the blog. Drop me a note and I’ll send you a rate card.

Meanwhile thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement. Now onto another new and exciting month in the world of media. Keep reading!
